Planetariums around the world

Up to now (1998) there are at least 2,653 planetariums operating worldwide, whose domes vary in size from 3 to 27.5 m in diameter.

Many of these are located in schools or large cultural centres and some are independent institutions. While most planetariums offer programs for the general public, some are used exclusively as educational workshops in schools or public educational institutions. A complete international overview is published annually by the International Planetarium Society.
